Alumni Chapter
With more than 3,000 Kappa Sigma alumni living in the Chicagoland area, Brother Kurt Uhlir had a desire to bring the alumni from across the country together. He began inviting individual brothers that worked in The Loop to lunch, and before long, they had a small group of regulars that met every month. After a few years, Brother Rob Jevens attended one of the lunches. He and Kurt began discussing how to more formally organize the effort and were joined by a few others to start what eventually was chartered as the Chicago Kappa Sigma Alumni Chapter.
Below are the brothers that served as officers when we were chartered and for several years after:
Kurt Uhlir
Initiated ’95 Kappa (Vanderbilt University). Kurt is a serial entrepreneur and business leader. He has generated over $10 billion in value for investors and clients as a serial entrepreneur, product visionary and angel investor. Kurt has built and run businesses from start-up to over $500M annual revenue, assembled teams across six continents, an IPO ($880M), and multiple acquisitions. He is the lead inventor of disruptive technologies in 5 industries, with 13 granted patents, and has been asked to advise thousands of leaders, from startup founders to the President of the United States. Rob Jevens
Initiated ’89 Theta-Beta (California State University/Long Beach). Helping Private Sellers, Financial and Strategic Buyers mitigate transaction risk, contingent liabilities and other M&A risk exposures. Clean exits and improved ROI for selling shareholders via escrow alternatives. More competitive bids and enhanced indemnification for buyers and leveraged buyers. Providing M&A due diligence support and adding value to portfolio companies.
Tim Lindsey
Initiated ’92 Delta-Pi (Southern Methodist University). Tim is the President, Founder, Senior Loan Consultant at Bear Mortgage. Bear Mortgage Inc. is a full service mortgage company offering personalized attention, support, and guidance during all stages of the lending process. Established in 2014, Bear Mortgage provides a new kind of experience for real estate professionals and homeowners. Unlike other brokers and lenders, with their bankers’ hours and leave-a-message approach to client service, Bear Mortgage is a reliable (and accessible) member of your team that you can always count on when it matters most. Bear Mortgage offers loans to clients with properties located in California, Colorado, and Washington. Prior to Bear Mortgage, Tim was Managing Director at Xcapital.
Doug Ramsey
Initiated ’92 Delta-Pi (Southern Methodist University). Doug Ramsey is a first-chair trial lawyer and has tried numerous cases to judgment in state and federal courts and in arbitrations before various venues. His litigation experience includes prosecuting and defending appeals before the Illinois Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the Illinois Appellate Court.
Doug has significant experience litigating a broad range of complex civil actions through trial and appeal. He has served as lead counsel in cases involving fiduciary law, corporate and partnership dissolutions and disputes, gaming law, securities violations, director‘s and officer’s liability, consumer and common law fraud, construction, land use and zoning, and special remedies such as emergency and permanent injunctive relief. He has represented securities brokerage firms and brokers in numerous FINRA arbitrations, including many customer disputes and employment-related matters, that went to judgment. Doug is also an experienced eminent domain lawyer who has represented municipalities, state and federal agencies, and property owners in condemnation actions involving more than half a million square feet of property.
